I did not grow up Christian, let alone Reformed. My parents raised me "Blue State" liberal until my mother had a racial conversion in 1984. She tried dragging us all to church, with limited results. My junior year of high school I was converted by the death of a Christian friend. I was very active in college with the Pentecostal group: I felt as if people were going to Hell through my lack of effort. I was unexpectedly brought into the Reformed faith by listening to a Calvinist friend debate. I read Pink's Sovereignty of God and was convinced! I floundered for a long time as I felt trapped between the Frozen Chosen Dutch Reformed church we attended and the Emotional, Works-Based, Praise Band churches we used to attend. Finally we found Faith Presbyterian of Tacoma, the right mix of orthodoxy and affections.
I am involved with a PCA church plant in Puyallup WA. I don't have time to read much, but I've heard almost everything on the internet! I've listened to everything by D.A. Carson and Rob Rayburn. My real name is Robert Murphy. I have started a wiki called Reformed Word, which has all the Bible in Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Authorized English and a newer translation. The Greek is all parsed and I'm working on the Hebrew and Latin myself. (I can't afford Bibleworks or Accordance.) I am trying to get things together to apply to Covenant, Fall 2010.
I like Reformed Forum and am very glad they have a wiki. I don't have time to listen and edit at the same time, since I generally hear RF during my commute. But I loathe spam and love pouncing on it and banning spam bots!
